Pankisi population expresses readiness to negotiate with the government

Investigative actions have been completed in the village of Birkiani, Pankisi Gorge, where confrontation took place between the population and law enforcers on April 21.

The Khadori 3 construction remains under police control. The vehicles burnt during the incident remain in the village.

The locals are planning to convene at 14:00 today and discuss what happened in the gorge on Sunday. They also express readiness to negotiate with the government.

"We live quietly. We have the quietest gorge. We are ready to meet the government and once again explain why we oppose the construction. Only 9-10 people support the construction in the gorge," said Ramaz Kushtanashvili.

The locals do not rule out that people who participated in the incident may be arrested in the nearest future.
