MIA : The cyber attack might have been carried out both inside and outside the country

The cyber attack might have been carried out both inside and outside the country, the Interior Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to MIA, the Ministry continues questioning and other investigative actions within the framework of the investigation launched into the cyber attack on various Georgian websites on October 28.

“The access to most websites has been restored. The functionality of other websites will be fully restored in the nearest future.

The cyber attack might have been carried out both inside and outside the country. The Ministry of Internal Affairs is actively cooperating with the law enforcement agencies of the partner countries within the framework of this investigation.

The investigation established that during the attack, the main pages of the websites have been changed (so-called Deface). The majority of the affected companies are served by Georgian private companies. The cyber attack style on each website was identical,” reads the statement spread by MIA.

The websites of a number of government and private agencies came under cyber attack on October 28. The homepages of the hacked websites were replaced by the photo showing Georgia’s ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili with a caption “I’ll Be Back.”
