FM Zalkaliani about Congressmen’s letter: Personal contacts are much more important than letters

It is important to differ feedbacks coming from the executive and legislative authorities. We have very strong support from the executive branch and the US administration, Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani said while responding to a letter sent by Congressmen to Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia.

According to the Minister, personal contacts are much more important than having communication through letters.

“I haven't seen the letter, I just know there is a congressman's tweet on the social network. If they speak about economic downturn there is probably no accurate information, as we know it well that even in recent months the economic growth rate in Georgia has been up to 6%. I think that personal contacts are more important than letters, so I'm sure that the visits, which are planned and will be planned by senior officials to Washington will be a good opportunity to give clear, accurate information to all interested persons, including congressmen. It is important to differ feedbacks coming from the executive and legislative authorities. We have very strong support from the executive branch and the US administration, which has been repeatedly expressed in various statements, by various supportive declarations or visits to Georgia, as well as by the visits made from Georgia to the United States, ”David Zalkaliani said.

According to him, Georgia has always heeded the recommendations of strategic partners.

“It is important for us to get any kind of feedback from our strategic partner, we are very attentive to their recommendations and their advice. Therefore, I think that every question, even based on biased information, must be answered. They have very diverse information from various sources, but I think personal communication and personal contacts are essential, ”David Zalkaliani said.

US Congressman Adam Kinzinger said that four US Congressman had sent a letter to Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia. “Rep Kinzinger, Gerry Connolly, Rep Eliot Engel and Rep McCaul sent a letter to the Georgian PM with grave concerns over political targeting & a declining economic trend that spells trouble for Georgia’s path towards democratic reform & Western integration,” Adam Kinzinger has tweeted.
