Independent MPs not take part in the voting on Nino Kadagidze's candidacy

Independent MPs will not take part in the voting on Nino Kadagidze's candidacy for the Chairperson of the Supreme Court.

The representative of the faction, Gedevan Popkhadze, left the Legal Issues Committee, where MPs are listening to Nino Kadagidze.

As he told reporters, the authorities are looking forward to approving Nino Kadagidze.

"I think it was a very unwise decision to consider Nino Kadagidze's candidacy in the Parliament now. In this situation around coronavrius, we are doing our best not to oppose the government. However, it seems that the authorities are looking forward to approving Nino Kadagidze. We have been skeptical about the whole process from the very beginning and nothing has changed for us in this regard. Judicial candidates were selected in an unfair and inccorect manner. As a result, we now have an institution that is not independent and is politically controlled”, Gedevan Popkhadze said.
