Irakli Kobakhidze terms report of American congressmen as "low-ranking document” and 13 congressmen as "lobbyists of the National Movement"

Irakli Kobakhidze, a member of the parliamentary majority and former chairman of the parliament, called the report of the American congressmen a "low-ranking document". In addition, he described the 13 congressmen, who signed the document, "lobbyists of the National Movement".

As Kobakhidze told reporters, the National Movement's method of working is to pay money to specific lobbyists. According to him, this document will not cause any trouble in the Georgian-American relations.

"Such phrases even in such low-ranking documents are ordered with the money that the United National Movement first earned at the expense of people and corruption and then paid to specific lobbyists. You remember that there was scandalous information a few months ago that the Vice President of the IRI board had taken money from the United National Movement, and naturally, such money yields certain results, but this result will never be great. The documents of this rank and statements of individual politicians may contain similar phrases, but the main thing is the attitude of institutions, and this attitude was reflected, for example, in the statement of the Deputy Secretary of the Department of State. About two weeks ago, he said that “Georgian-American relations had never been at such a high level as they are now”. This sheds light on everything, the rest are phrases ordered by lobbyists in a low-ranking document that we saw yesterday. Naturally, this will not harm the Georgian-American relations.

We do not use the methods used by the National Movement, including outside the country, over the years. The results of our work can be clearly seen in official documents and official statements issued by Western institutions. Each of these statement is in support of the Georgian Dream and Bidzina Ivanishvili,” Kobakhidze said.

According to the recently published US Security Strategy entitled “Strengthening America & Countering Global Threats”, which was signed by 13 Congressmen, “Bidzina Ivanishvili, the richest man in Georgia, is a close ally of Putin and involved in destabilizing Georgia on Russia’s behalf.”
