The first reactions of the opposition to the statement of U.S. congressmen are exactly an example of how the opposition tries to use what is said by our strategic partners for the internal political processes of the country and to interpret it as their support, - said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Davit Zalkaliani.

According to Zalkaliani, the mentioned document has no political force and is only a study signed by "very respectable Republicans".

"I recently read the first reactions of the opposition to the statement of U.S. congressmen, which are exactly an example of how the opposition tries to use what is said by our strategic partners for the internal political processes of the country and to interpret it as their support. First of all, I would like to point out that this is a document that does not have any political force, it is a study conducted by the republican training research center. This document has neither executive nor legislature force, it is the research and recommendations signed by very respectable Republicans, 13 congressmen. I would like to say that I personally had a meeting with 3 of them during my visit in February and I have not heard them saying any similar thing,” Zalkaliani said.

According to the recently published US Security Strategy entitled “Strengthening America & Countering Global Threats”, which was signed by 13 Congressmen, “Bidzina Ivanishvili, the richest man in Georgia, is a close ally of Putin and involved in destabilizing Georgia on Russia’s behalf.”
