According to the US national defence act ammendment, the collaboration with Georgia will continue only if the country keeps its promises. The amendment belongs to the Chairperson of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Jim Risch.

As Senator Risch stated, the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabshvilis has pardoned Irakli Okruashvili and Gigi Ugulava; however, Giorgi Rurua still remains in prison.

"The US Senate still expresses its willingness to continue the relations with Georgia in terms of governance and economy and as well as in the direction of deepening the collaboration in the fight against corruption and protection of Georgian territorial sovereignty", - it is noted in the statement.

The US Senate calls for Georgian government and political leaders to avoid the temptation of power and make the process more transparent in terms of the procedure of the appointment of the judges and loyalty towards the party.

The US Senate still calls for the Georgian government to promote the fair and transparent 2020 elections.
