Gia Volski: It is a lie that Congress made that decision. It is only a bill

It is a lie that Congress has already made a decision. It is only a bill, there have been such bills referring to oligarchic governance earlier too, but nothing has been proved, - Parliament Vice-Speaker Gia Volski said when assessing the bill submitted by the Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representatives of the United Stated.

As Volski told reporters, the US assistance to the Georgian Dream government is at much higher level.

"One group has submitted this resolution to Congress, but it is a lie that Congress has already made a decision. It is only a bill, there have been such bills referring to oligarchic governance earlier too, but nothing has been proved.

The US assistance to the Georgian Dream government is serious. the US support, be it political, economic, financial and military, is at much higher level, including on the basis of congressmen’s decisions," Volsky said.

A few explanations have been added to the U.S. state, foreign operations and related programs appropriations bill with regard to Georgia.

The Committee recommends not less than $132,025,000 be made available from funds for assistance for Georgia, but it also says that the assistance may not be obligated until the Secretary of State determines and reports to the Committees on Appropriations that the Government of Georgia is taking effective steps to strengthen democratic institutions, combat corruption and ensure that the rule of law in the private sector is consistent with international recognized standards.
