Tbilisi-Paris and Tbilisi-Riga flights to be operated from early August

According to Minister of Economy Natia Turnava, Air France will operate flights twice a week from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and Tbilisi International Airport from the beginning of August.

According to Turnava, negotiations are underway with AirBaltic as well.

"As you know, we were talking about the resumption of direct regular flights with the five countries of the European Union that have unconditionally opened their borders for us. You know that we had this negotiation with Germany through Lufthansa, which has already published its flight schedule and tickets are on sale. Today we made a decision and confirmed to Air France that it will be able to operate flights from the beginning of August. The exact date will be determined by the company itself. They will be able to operate two flights a week from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and Tbilisi International Airport.

We continue negotiations with AirBaltic in the direction of Tbilisi-Riga and we will have a decision in this regard soon.

We will continue to extend the temporary ban on regular flights to all other destinations in August. We will gradually increase the area of regular flights.

In addition, Airzena will continue operating commercial charter flights. It will have about 16 flights, or slightly more than it had in July, mainly from Vienna and Amsterdam. Other charter flights will be allowed periodically in agreement with us.

As for the so-called social charter flights, we have 5 directions and Tbilisi-Berlin-Tbilisi has now been added on the basis of the demand of Georgian students who were going to arrive in Germany with short-term employment programmes. We considered this to be the category where the state should use its subsidy resource and offer relatively affordable tickets. We worked with the Department of Youth and this flight will take place in the near future," Turnava said.
