Tea Akhvlediani: Unfortunately, today the occupation regime took another illegal step

"Unfortunately, today the occupation regime took another illegal step and extended the illegal detention of Zaza Gakheladze," Tea Akhvlediani, acting State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality said.

As she noted, the hotline has been activated and work is underway with international partners to increase pressure on the occupation regime.

"Unfortunately, as it is known, the occupation regime continues its destructive policy, which is aimed at the illegal detention of our citizens. Several of our citizens are detained today, including Zaza Gakheladze and others. The good news is that Mirian Taziashvili was released yesterday. We continue our efforts for the unconditional release of citizens remaining in illegal detention.

Unfortunately, today the occupation regime took another illegal step and extended Zaza Gakheladze's illegal detention. As we have repeatedly stated, the relevant agencies of Georgia are working in a coordinated, continuous manner, hotline also has been launched, through which we regularly receive information on the situation of our citizens in illegal detention and, most importantly, we work intensively with our international partners to increase pressure on the occupation regime and to achieve the immediate release of our citizens," Akhvlediani said.

33-year-old Zaza Gakheladze was detained by the occupation forces at the dividing line on July 11. Gakheladze is charged with illegal crossing of the "border" and opening fire at "border guards". Zaza Gakheladze was wounded during the illegal detention.
