According to the Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, all the questions that the public has regarding the Namakhvani HPP should be answered. He instructed the ministers at today’s meeting of the government to arrive on the ground and personally address the concerns of the population.

In addition, according to Irakli Gharibashvili, it is possible to hold committee hearings on the issue.

"I want to respond to the concerns of the population regarding the Namakhvani HPP. Naturally, there are questions and every question must be responded validly and professionally. I think it is necessary for the population to have answers for these questions directly from the ministers. Therefore, I would like to ask Ms. Natia Turnava and also Mr. Levan Davitashvili to arrive in person on the ground, for example, tomorrow. Start direct communication with the population, talk to them in person, explain what they are worried about. I would also like to ask our ministers to hold appropriate committee hearings. These hearings can also be held in the Parliament with the participation of those interested in this issue, in order to answer all the sharp questions.

As you know, energy independence is a top priority for our country and we must respond to this challenge adequately. As you are well aware, imported electricity is growing from year to year, and according to the predictions of the energy sector, at least an average of 100 MW capacity HPP should be built in the country every year, which is not being done at this stage. Here we have to find the middle ground. For this, it is necessary to communicate directly with the population so that there is no unanswered question", - Gharibashvili said.
