Andria Jagmaidze: The church cannot take responsibility for the promotion of vaccination, as the above is the competence and responsibility of health workers

With regard to vaccination, any person is free in his/her choice. The church cannot take responsibility for the promotion of vaccination, as the above is the competence and responsibility of health workers, - said Andria Jagmaidze, head of the public relations department of the Patriarchate.

According to him, the church is currently guided by the February 11decision of the Synod, which states that any person, regardless of his or her social status, public or private activities, should not be subjected to harassment, insult or persecution in case of vaccination or non-vaccination.

"Today, the church has the February 11 ruling of the Synod as a guide regarding vaccination, which reads:

We welcome the fact that the Covid-pandemic vaccination process has been declared voluntary and not mandatory; This is especially important today, when the vaccine is newly developed and health professionals in different countries have different opinions about it.

We note that any person, regardless of his or her social status, public or private activities, should not be subjected to harassment, insult or persecution, both in the case of vaccination and non-vaccination."

The church cannot take responsibility for the promotion of vaccination, because it is the competence and responsibility of health workers, "- said Jagmaidze.
