Georgian tennis team has released a statement expressing full moral support to the number one tennis player of Georgia, Nikoloz Basilashvili.

According to the statement, no one can dictate sports fans how to share the joy of Nika Basilashvili's success.

"We, Georgian tennis players, fully support the number one tennis player of Georgia, Nikoloz Basilashvili. We consider alarming the moral and psychological terror that is directed against the athlete and aims to damage the reputation of Nikoloz Basilashvili on the international arena.

Just like a large part of the society, we support the civil, peaceful and legal process through which the truth will surely be established. We call on the non-governmental sector and the media to wait for the trial to end. No one can dictate us, sports fans, how to share the joy of Nika Basilashvili's success”, reads the statement.

Nikoloz Basilashvili is charged with domestic violence against his former wife. He was detained on May 22 , but was later released on bail.
