Persons opposing the construction of Namakhvani HPP are holding a protest rally in Republic Square.

"The fight starts here and now! We will bring this fight to an end!", - Varlam Goletiani, one of the organizers of the rallies against Namakhvani HPP, addressed the people gathered in the Republic Square.

Protesters will once again voice their demands and action plans at today's rally.

Residents of the capital will be jointed by citizens from different regions. Police are mobilized for security on the spot.

The protesters have several demands. In particular, they demand to cancel the agreement signed on April 25, 2019 between the Government of Georgia and the company Enka Renewables on the construction of the Namakhvani HPP cascade on the Rioni River; to repeal the Decree 2405 of the Government of Georgia of November 21, 2019 on approving the transfer of the state-owned real estate to LLC Enka Renewables; to revoke the construction permit issued for the Namakhvani HPP cascade in 2015 and all other documents based on it; to dismiss Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.
