Giga Makarashvili: I hope the Patriarchate will be prudent enough not incite their parishioners to beat other people - I hope July 5 will end peacefully

I very much hope that the Patriarchate will be prudent enough not to incite their parishioners to beat other people. Hopefully, July 5 will end very peacefully, - one of the organizers of Tbilisi Pride Giga Makarashvili told journalists, responding to the statement of the Patriarchate.

According to him, the organizers of Pride are not going to change the plan.

"Nothing special is happening. The Patriarchate, just like other groups, has every right to express their protest peacefully. If they decided to hold a rally in that place necessarily on July 5, that's ok, I do not think the Patriarchate is coming to beat anyone or for voicing disgust. If they are coming with love and open arms, they will meet similar people there - with open arms, colorful and free. Pride will definitely be held on July 5. We are not going to change our plans, naturally, because we are not going to do anything wrong for a second, neither to the Patriarchate nor to the city. Instead, we demand the protection of the rights of people who are oppressed by the system. If the community prevents us from doing this, then it will be very easy for society to see how the church behaves, the one which should preach love. I very much hope that the Patriarchate will be prudent enough not to incite their parishioners to beat other people. Hopefully, July 5 will end very peacefully", - Makarashvili said.

According to him, they want to build a country where all groups will have the right to hold a rally.
