State Security Service arrests four employees of Tbilisi Transport Company for bribe-taking and attempted fraud

Officers of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service detained four employees of the Tbilisi Transport Company. According to the agency, the detainees are accused of bribe-taking and attempted fraud.

“As a result of investigative and operative measures taken by the State Security Service’s Anti-Corruption Agency, in cooperation with the relevant services of the Tbilisi City Hall and the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia, four employees of the Tbilisi Transport Company Ltd were arrested for bribery and attempted fraud.

The investigation established that the mentioned persons were receiving bribes from various persons in exchange for the performance of their duties and responsibilities. At this stage, several dozen persons have been identified who have transferred money to the employees of the transport company.

As a result of the above action, the members of the criminal group received a large amount of illegal income”, reads the statement.
