Irakli Gharibashvili: Vaccine does not work in the most cases of Omicron

Vaccine does not work in the most cases of Omicron, - the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili said at the governmental meeting.

As he pointed out, unfounded speculation began as to why the Covid-passport was revoked.

"We have studied this issue and the practice of European countries. Given the recent trends, we no longer considered it expedient to apply these cards. The use of these "green cards" made no sense any longer. Initially, our goal was to encourage vaccination, and in the case of Delta and other variants, the picture was different, but in the case of Omicron, in most cases, the vaccine does not work.

For example, I'm one example - I was infected with another variant last year, I got vaccinated twice with Pfizer, but I still got infected with Omicron.

On the other hand, we have continued to promote vaccination campaigns and our main task should be to vaccinate people over the age of 50 and have chronic diseases”, said the PM.
