The plenary session of the Parliament opens with the national anthem of Ukraine

The plenary session of the Parliament opened with the national anthem of Ukraine. The Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, addressed the deputies with a request to observe a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the war.

"For several days now we have been witnessing the fight of the Ukrainian people for the freedom and independence of the country. This fight is not foreign to us Georgians and we know well how our Ukrainian sisters and brothers feel in these difficult days. The fight, moreover, the fight for freedom will always result in casualties, including casualties among the civilian population, which is the greatest horror even during war. Therefore, before the sitting, let's observe a minute of silence in memory of the victims with Ukrainian national anthem being performed in the background" Papuashvili said.

In the plenary hall, Ukrainian flags are displayed on the tribune and parterre of the Parliament.
