I can directly say that I would not make such a statement, - President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili said in an interview with FRANCE 24 regarding the ­statement of Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, according to which Georgia will not join the sanctions against Russia.

To the host's question - "The Prime Minister of your country said that Georgia is not going to impose sanctions on Russia, why?" - Zourabichvili answered that she did not know why Gharibashvili made such a statement.

"First of all, I do not know why he made this statement. I think this is not an issue because our country is already sanctioned by the occupied territories. I'm not sure what kind of sanctions we can impose, sanctions that matter at this point. But I do not think that such a statement makes any sense today - I can directly say that I would not make such a statement. I think what is important and what everyone expects from Georgia is open solidarity, that is why I am here, I confirm this to President Zelensky, and this is confirmed by the Georgian population. This is the message I want to bring here - we express absolute solidarity with Ukraine, " Zourabichvili said.
