Reform Group expresses full support for Georgia's accelerated accession to EU, calls on authorities to return to April 19 agreement

Reform Group fully supports Georgia's application for accelerated accession to the European Union.

At the same time, Reform Group calls on the authorities to return to the April 19 agreement, and also appeals to the opposition parties to work as an entire political spectrum to implement the agenda of the April 19 agreement and reforms.

As Paata Manjgaladze stated at the briefing in the Parliament, Georgia's application for accelerated membership is a big step on this path and it is the result of the struggle of the Georgian people.

"Georgia will apply for EU membership today, it is a very important step, it does not mean membership, but it is a very big step on the path to membership. Our team fully supports this process. I note that this is not the merit of any government, any party, it is the merit of the struggle of the people for centuries that our generation continues today. This is a very important step and I see that attempts to damage this process have begun. The fifth column is fighting against this idea with all its might. They say it will further provoke Russia. I am directly saying that those who speak like that are the enemy of Georgia and the representative of the fifth column," Paata Manjgaladze said.

According to another member of the party, Sergo Chikhladze, the action plan for EU membership is actually the Charles Michel agreement, the agenda of which should be worked together by all political parties.

"There is a lot of work to be done and a long way to go. It is clear that this will not happen in one day, but it is a big step forward. In order to become full members, we need to meet democratic criteria and implement effective reforms. I would like to remind the authorities that the April 19 agreement, from which it withdrew, is an action plan for EU membership, that is the name of this agreement - the road to European future, so I call on the authorities to return to the agenda of the April 19 agreement. I also call on the opposition parties, the entire political spectrum, to stand together and work on this agenda," Chikhladze said.
