Georgia's official application for EU membership has been submitted to the Permanent Representative of France, the country holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union

The Ambassador of Georgia to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Head of the Mission of Georgia to the European Union, Vakhtang Makharoblishvili, has submitted official application of Georgia for the membership of the European Union to Phillipe Léglise-Costa, Permanent Representative of France, the country holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spreads information about it.

"By submitting an official application signed by the Prime Minister of Georgia, the Council of the European Union was requested to start the relevant procedures for Georgia's accession to the European Union," the statement said.

For reference, the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili signed Georgia's application for EU membership on March 3.
