Mamuka Mdinaradze: I am not going to diminish the role of the President's annual report, but there are much more urgent issues today

I am not going to diminish the role of the President's annual report, but there are much more urgent issues today and I think the report can be presented at any time, Mamuka Mdinaradze, Chairman of the Georgian Dream faction said at the Bureau meeting.

As Mdinaradze noted, it is better for the MPs to listen to the President at the next first sitting.

"I respect the President and the institution of the President. I had a consultation on this issue. There are a few specific arguments. For example, the rules that say that we can select another date. I think and my colleagues also agree that there are more urgent topics. Of course, I am not really going to downplay the role of the President's annual report, but there are more urgent issues and I think that the report can be presented at any time. We suggest that we do it at the very first day of the sitting and listen to the report, as provided by the Constitution and the Rules of Procedure. As for the current issues, we express our absolute readiness in this regard. We can hold a meeting and talk about this topic today. If the President wants to inform people of the country about any particular issue, naturally, she can do it in any other format - via a briefing or a press conference. If we are talking about relations with political groups, sit down and talk even today. The President's annual report is not urgent. There are also quorum problems this weekend, with committee chairmen and MPs being on business trips, including chairmen of the Committee on Foreign Relations and European Integration. I do not think it is right to resolve this issue so hastily, without proper readiness. We can listen to the report at the very first sitting and we can talk to the President about much more urgent issues today," Mdinaradze said.
