According to Nika Melia, Georgian Airways assists Russian individuals and legal entities in circumventing sanctions imposed on Russia by the international community and establishes relations with the Russian payment system, which operates illegally in occupied Abkhazia.

"As you know, there are well-known international plastic card systems in the world - Visa, Mastercard, American Express and others. In order to circumvent the sanctions, Russia has created a system of domestic Russian plastic cards called - Мир. Two days ago, an incredible thing happened in Georgia - Georgian airline "Georgian Airways" got involved in the Russian system, which was created to avoid Western sanctions, and started selling tickets, thus helping Russian individuals and legal entities to circumvent the sanctions imposed on Russia by the international community. Also, this airline is establishing commercial relations with the Russian payment system, which operates illegally in occupied Abkhazia and violates the law on the occupied territories," Nika Melia said.

According to him, this decision of the airline would be impossible without the involvement of the government, "therefore, the Georgian government has again openly opposed the struggle of Ukraine and the democratic community for peace and freedom."

According to the opposition leader, the government's steps will make Georgia, as an open ally of aggressor and occupant state, a subject of international sanctions.

"Of course, this company could not have done all this without the consent and direct permission from the government. This is another shameful and unworthy act by Ivanishvili's government, while the whole world is tightening sanctions against Russia, the Georgian government is actively engaged in Russia circumventing these sanctions. With so many serious facts being revealed on a daily basis, the Georgian government is again openly opposing the struggle of Ukraine and the democratic community for peace and freedom. These steps of the government will cause Georgia, as an open ally of aggressor and occupying state, to be subject to international sanctions, which will further aggravate the already difficult economic and social situation in the country," Nika Melia said.
