Mikheil Saakashvili calls off hunger strike

Former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili is ending his hunger strike. According to Mikheil Saakashvili's address, common sense, health and full mobilization are needed now, strength instead of weakness.

"Events are unfolding exactly as I predicted years ago. The Russian Empire is being destroyed on the outskirts of my favorite city, Kyiv. The hero Ukrainian people, led by Commander-in-Chief Volodymyr Zelensky, are winning this epochal war. The world is changing before our eyes. Kyiv is the new Constantinople for Georgia and now the capital of the free world, and it will surely endure.

In this situation, we, as never before, need unity and preparation. For me the way to the peaceful return of Sokhumi passes through Kyiv, the liberation and prosperity of Georgia passes through Kyiv.

Now we should not weaken, but get stronger. This applies to me too.

I received a letter from the Georgian fighters who have been defending Ukraine since 2014, of whom I am very proud and I call them my friends. They ask me to stop the hunger strike and to join the fight as soon as possible with full force. The same request comes from the representatives of Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief, with whom I am in constant contact.

Therefore, on the 20th day, I am ending the hunger strike. Now we need common sense, health and full mobilization, strength instead of weakness. We must meet victory in full readiness!" Saakashvili said.
