Russian President Vladimir Putin has submitted an agreement to the State Duma for ratification, which provides for the simplification of the acquisition of Russian citizenship by "citizens" of so-called South Ossetia.
The document was signed in 2021. On the basis of the above document, citizens can obtain citizenship of another country without renouncing their citizenship.
According to the document, a person who receives the so-called dual citizenship, will have the right to social security, education and medical care under the legislation of the country in which he/she will live permanently. This norm also applies to the military service.
In case of ratification, the document will be valid for five years and it will be automatically extended until either party wishes to terminate it.
