Volodymyr Zelensky gets standing ovation in US Congress

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is delivering a virtual address via video to members of the US House and Senate, CNN reports.

Volodymyr Zelensky received a standing ovation from United States lawmakers ahead of his virtual address.

The Ukrainian President opened his address to Congress by lauding the bravery of the Ukrainian people and saying the "destiny" of his country is being decided right now amid the Russia invasion.

He reiterated his calls for the establishment of a no-fly zone over Ukraine and lauded the bravery of the Ukrainian people.

Volodymyr Zelensky called on the United States to "do more" during what is "the darkest time" for his country.

"In the darkest time for our country, for the whole Europe, I call on you to do more. New packages of sanctions are needed, constantly, every week until the Russian military machine stops. Restrictions are needed for everyone on whom this unjust regime is based," he said in a video address to Congress.
