State Security Service of Georgia calls on Ukraine to immediately provide proof of information disseminated by Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine

The State Security Service of Georgia calls on the Ukrainian side to immediately provide proof of the information disseminated by their Main Directorate of Intelligence "in order to respond to it legally."

According to the State Security Service, the mentioned action is a particularly serious crime under Georgian law.

"According to the information provided by the Ukrainian military intelligence, the Georgian special services have secret connections with the relevant services of the Russian Federation in order to organize the smuggling of goods through the territory of Georgia.

This action is a particularly serious crime under Georgian law. We call on the Ukrainian side to provide us with immediate proof of this information for legal action. The Georgian Government will be uncompromising in any possible case of such a crime.

We would also like to mention that the State Security Service met with the representative of the Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia yesterday to exchange information. During the meeting, the State Security Service inquired about the grounds for disseminating the above information and requested to provide detailed information.

We would like to remind the Ukrainian side that the exchange of such information is stipulated in a number of interstate agreements.

Otherwise, the statement will be considered premeditated misinformation, an extremely unfriendly and provocative step aimed at provoking internal unrest in Georgia, which willingly or unwillingly serves only the interests of the forces hostile to Georgia," reads the statement.
