Prosecutor General of Georgia Irakli Shotadze met with the U.S. Department of Justice's Deputy Assistant Attorney General and Counselor for International Affairs Bruce C. Swartz.

According to Prosecutor's Office, at the meeting held at the General Prosecutor's Office, the parties discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of criminal law and emphasized the positive dynamics that exists between the relevant agencies of the two countries in the field of fighting against crime.

"Irakli Shotadze thanked his American colleague for the contribution made by the relevant agencies of the United States of America in the process of reforming and developing the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia and for the assistance provided to date.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed readiness to further deepen future cooperation.

The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia is hosting the 27th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) on "Global Phenomena Reshaping Criminal Justice Systems".

300 prosecutors from 60 countries and representatives of the United Nations, the European Union, the Council of Europe, the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), relevant units working in the field of criminal justice and high-level experts working in the field will attend the international conference of prosecutors scheduled for September 25-29 in Tbilisi.

The International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) was founded in 1995 in the Vienna representation of the United Nations and is the only organization that unites the prosecutor's offices and individual prosecutors from the various countries of the world. More than 183 agencies from 180 countries of the world, as well as individual member prosecutors, are members of the international association," reads the statement.
