Ministry of Finance: Georgia will get approximately 55.6 million euros from EBRD for the rehabilitation of Tbilisi Metro

According to the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, agreements were signed between Georgia and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) today, which provide for the modernization of the Tbilisi Metro.

According to the agency, the loan and grant agreements were signed by Minister of Finance of Georgia Lasha Khutsishvili and EBRD Vice President for Policy and Partnerships Mark Bowman, who is on a working visit to Georgia as part of the Caucasian tour.

Financial resources in the amount of approximately 55.6 million euros will be used for the rehabilitation of Tbilisi metro stations and metro escalators. The implementer of the project will be the Tbilisi City Hall through the Tbilisi Transport Company.

"EBRD Vice President for Policy and Partnerships Mark Bowman is in Georgia together with the Bank's Managing Director for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, Matteo Patrone. The mentioned visit was preceded by meetings held by the EBRD President in Tbilisi in September 2022. Currently, the purpose of the visit is to discuss future projects, both in the private and public sectors," reads the information.
