During arrest, Badri Esebua had a large amount of Russian money and the so-called Abkhazian passport, - the prosecutor stated at the trial, in which Badri Esesbua, the persons accused of robbing Bank of Georgia, is participating remotely.
Esebua, when asked by the judge if he pleaded guilty, replied that he did not.
As Dimitri Khvitia, the prosecutor of the case, noted at the session, there are both formal and factual grounds for the use of measure of restraint, as firearms and ammunition were seized as a result of the search.
According to him, depending on the severity of the criminal act and the personality of the accused, the most severe form of measure - detention - should be used.
Badri Esebua was arrested in Zugdidi a few days ago. On October 21, 2020, armed Badri Essebua broke into the building of Bank of Georgia in Zugdidi. He took more than 40 citizens hostage and demanded 500 thousand US dollars and security guarantees in exchange for their release. After receiving the money, the attacker managed to escape.
