According to the State Security Service, today, near the village of Chvrinisi, Kareli municipality, the Russian occupation forces tried to illegally arrest two Georgian citizens, who resisted the attackers.
As it is noted in the information spread by SSG, immediately upon the appearance of the police officers, the representatives of the Russian occupation force quickly left the area.
"Citizens are currently in the territory controlled by the central government and they are not in danger. Citizens are in Shida Kartli police department for questioning.
Upon receiving the information about the mentioned serious incident, the State Security Service activated the hotline operated by the EU Monitoring Mission. International partners and co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions were immediately informed about the incident.
The central government will strictly raise this issue on April 27 of this year at the next meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) planned in Ergneti. Responsibility for all destructive actions committed on the occupied territories of Georgia, as well as along the occupation line, rests with the occupying power. Such illegal actions are extremely damaging to the fragile security environment in the region," reads the information disseminated by the Security Service.
