Naming the desire for NATO membership as the reason for Russian aggression is a Russian narrative and a proof that the Georgian government is occupied by Russia, Giorgi Gakharia, the former Prime Minister of Georgia, the leader of the For Georgia party, states.
As Gakharia notes, the government is preparing the ground for rejecting NATO membership.
"Naming the desire for NATO membership as the reason for Russian aggression is a Russian narrative and another proof that the Georgian government is occupied by Russia. The authorities are preparing the ground for rejecting NATO membership under the false narrative of "second front" and "neutrality". Membership of the European Union and NATO is a guarantee of peace, statehood and territorial integrity of Georgia," Gakharia said.
