According to the information of the Maritime Transport Agency, the ASTORIA GRANDE cruise ship entered Batumi harbor from Trabzon and its owner company is not included in the international sanctions.
As the Maritime Transport Agency told InterPressNews, the entry of the ship into Georgian waters is of a commercial nature.
"On July 27, the Palau-flagged cruise ship ASTORIA GRANDE entered the Batumi harbor from Trabzon. The ship is operated by the Turkish cruise company Miray Cruises International, the owner of the ship is registered in the Seychelles under the name of the company Goodwin Shipping Limited and is not subject to international sanctions. It should be noted that the arrival of the cruise ship ASTORIA GRANDE is of a commercial nature. The Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia, in coordination with the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance, constantly inspects both ships and shipowners in relation to international sanctions. Accordingly, if the ship or the owner of the ship is on the list of sanctions, it is not allowed to enter the ports of Georgia," reads the agency.
For information, the cruise ship Astoria Grande, which arrived in Batumi this morning, left Sochi on July 22.
