Maria Zakharova on Batumi rally: The majority of Georgian citizens do not support "ordered provocations against Russia", which "the radical Georgian opposition organizes at the request of Western sponsors"

The majority of Georgian citizens do not support "ordered provocations against Russia", which "the radical Georgian opposition organizes at the request of Western sponsors", Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova, stated.

Speaking of the protest held in Georgia a few days ago against the arrival of a cruise ship with Russian tourists in Batumi, Zakharova noted that similar rallies “are another ordered action that is carried out in the country on various topics, in the context of Russia and also in the context of certain internal developments”.

According to her, people who organize such events do not represent the population of Georgia.

"This rally did not have any support inside the country. We receive a lot of calls from Georgian citizens who say that this senseless provocation is unacceptable to them, that it has nothing to do with the country, and that they distance themselves from similar actions," Zakharova said.

She also said that US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan "directly teaches Georgian citizens how to live".
