On September 13-15, the Minister of the Environment of the Czech Republic, Petr Hladík, will visit Tbilisi and Kutaisi. The goal of the visit is to support the establishment of business partnerships between Czech and Georgian companies and institutions from the field of the environment. Together with him, a twenty-member business delegation of the Czech Chamber of Commerce, consisting of representatives of companies from the fields of energy, pharmaceuticals, water management and recycling and waste processing, is heading to Georgia. Minister is also accompanied by the representatives of T. G. Masaryk Water Research Institute and Czech Geological Survey, which deals with such a frequent phenomenon in Georgia as landslides.
In Tbilisi, Minister Hladík will meet with the Minister of the Environment and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia, with the Deputy Chairwoman of the Committee for the Environment of the Parliament of Georgia, Salome Kurasbediani, and with representatives of development agencies. In Kutaisi, he will meet with the Kutaisi Mayor Joseph Khakhaleishvili and the State Representative of the Imereti region Zviad Shalamberidze. Furthermore, the Minister will open the business forum of Czech and Georgian companies in both cities.
As part of the development cooperation between the Czech Republic and Georgia, a number of projects in the field of the environment have already been implemented, and more projects are now being planned, especially in the field of nature and landscape protection, handling of chemical substances and environmental decontamination.
