Actor and rapper Kakha Abuashvili, also known as "Kabu", who was arrested on charges of violence against woman, threats, and illegal purchase and possession of drugs, was sentenced to a 10,000 GEL bail as a preventive measure.
He will leave the penitentiary after paying the bail.
The said decision was made by Tamar Mchedlishvili, the judge of the Tbilisi City Court.
At today's session, the scope of preventive measures against the detainee was discussed.
The Prosecutor's Office requested the use of the strictest restraining measure for the actor, the lawyer asked to leave him without a restraining measure, and the court offered to use a 5,000 GEL bail as an alternative, and also, if necessary, to use various restrictive measures.
According to Giorgi Gogaladze, the prosecutor of the case, the defendant beat the victim Tamar Megrelishvili on the grounds of jealousy over abstract persons. According to the prosecutor, Kakha Abuashvili was carrying a cold weapon, a knife. In addition, according to the prosecutor, the accused has an oppressive attitude towards women, he has also been convicted 4 times for committing intentional crimes, and according to him, the actor is prone to committing intentional crimes. Based on all the mentioned, the Prosecutor's Office pointed to the danger of the accused committing a new crime, hiding and influencing the witnesses.
The defense side did not agree to the mentioned motion. According to lawyer Davit Sanadze, there is only one witness' testimony in the case. In addition, according to the lawyer, the seized drug does not belong to "Kabu".
According to Davit Sanadze, Kakha Abuashvili does not have a conviction at the moment, it has been removed.
The lawyer also noted that if the Prosecutor's Office is talking about the personal characteristics of Kakha Abuashvili, the victim is under a suspended sentence for a drug crime and his adequacy needs to be checked.
At the trial, Kakha Abuashvili only stated that he "absolutely agreed with the lawyers". He pleads not guilty to the charges.
For information, the prosecutor's office of Georgia filed charges against actor Kakha Abuashvili under the first part of Article 126 (beating on grounds of gender discrimination, which caused physical pain to the victim), the first part of Article 151 (threat of harming health on grounds of gender discrimination), and the first part of Article 260 (illegal purchase, storage of narcotic drugs) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
