We hope that Georgia will get back on the road to the European Union, - Mark Rutte, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands and the future Secretary General of NATO, told the media in Brussels, where the summit of the European Council is taking place.
According to him, he is worried about Georgia's path to the European Union.
"It is possible to briefly [discuss the issue of Georgia] here, but we are certainly worried about the European Union, I am worried about Georgia's path to the European Union because of the recent decisions. I spoke briefly with the president [of Georgia], I think he is a great leader, but he failed, the veto was overridden by the parliament, unfortunately.
We, of course, are waiting for him [Georgia] and we hope that Georgia will return to the road to the European Union, but regarding NATO, I will only say that I am proud that I was elected [Secretary General], but I will not comment on NATO until October 1," said Route.
When asked by the journalist what to expect from the European Union, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands noted that expectations are primarily from the Georgian government.
"First of all, we should expect from Georgia, from the government, now it depends on you," Rute added.
When asked about the sanctions, Rutte answered: "We'll see, we'll see, but we certainly hope that you, Georgia, will return [to the EU path]."
