The first stream of fans arrived on a government-subsidized flight from Georgia to Germany to cheer on the eighth-final match of the national team of EURO 2024. A special charter flight brought 219 fans to Cologne.
The Union of Airports disseminates information about this.
According to their reports, in the period from June 29 to July 2, 7 charter flights were organized by the Association of Georgian Airports. Return tickets from Cologne can be bought on the tkt.ge platform. Tickets to fly from Tbilisi have already been completely sold out. The cost of a subsidized, one-way air ticket is EUR 195. Accordingly, the cost of a round-trip air ticket is EUR 390.
According to Irakli Karkashadze, the General Director of the Association of Airports of Georgia, the monitoring of the sale of tickets, as well as the passenger registration process both in Georgia and in Germany, is fully provided by the Association of Airports.
"First of all, I want to congratulate all of Georgia on the great victory that our national team won and wish success in the round of 16 game against Spain. The Association of Airports of Georgia organized up to 30 charters during the group stage and allowed up to 6,000 fans to attend the games of our national team, get amazing emotions and celebrate the victory together. At the playoff, 7 charters were appointed. Which gave an opportunity for 1200 additional passengers to go to the round of 16 match. It is important that charter flights are performed by Georgian airlines, - said Irakli Karkashadze.
Those citizens of Georgia who have tickets to attend the football match will be able to use the subsidized air ticket.
