Journalistic Ethics Charter: Eka Kvesitadze violated the 1st, 5th and 8th principles of the Charter

The Council of the Charter of Ethics considered the statement of Giorgi Kalandarishvili, acting chairman of the Central Election Commission of Georgia, against Eka Kvesitadze, a journalist of the "Mtavari Arkhi". According to the decision of the Charter Council, the journalist violated the 1st, 5th and 8th principles of the Charter in the disputed material, - the Charter of Journalistic Ethics disseminates information about this.

"On June 9, the Charter Council discussed the statement of Giorgi Kalandarishvili, the acting chairman of the Central Election Commission of Georgia, against the journalist of "Mtavari Arkhi" Eka Kvesitadze.

The disputed material was broadcast on April 2, 2024. The applicant points out that in the program "Different Accents" the journalist covered the information about the acting chairman of the CEC in a manipulative and incorrect manner, without verification, and also ignored the principle of protecting the rights of the child.

The respondent journalist did not attend the session and did not present his response in writing.

According to the decision of the Charter Council, in the disputed material, the journalist violated the 1st, 5th and 8th principles of the Charter", - it is noted in the information distributed by the Charter.
