The case of blogger Ucha Abashidze and his wife, Mariam Iashvili, has been considered in the Tbilisi City Court.

The session is held in closed mode, since the case contains personal information of the affected persons.

At today's trial, the prosecution will make an opening statement.

The arrested husband and wife do not admit to the charges presented.

Only Mariam Iashvili attends the court session.

For information, Ucha Abashidze and Mariam Iashvili were charged under Articles 157 prima and 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which means illegal acquisition and storage of private life secrets and illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition.

As it turns out, the investigation in the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs began on May 4 of this year, on a completely different case. In particular, on the facts of the cyber attack on the websites of various state agencies, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Justice and the Parliament of Georgia. As part of the said investigation, the law enforcement officers searched the apartments of Ucha Abashidze and his wife, Mariam Iashvili. The investigation established that the defendants secretly installed various video-audio devices in the apartment, through which they illegally recorded the intimate relationship between Mariam Yashvili and various persons.

In addition, according to the state indictment, the detainees illegally obtained and stored information containing secrets of hundreds of people's personal lives in their computer system.

According to the information of the investigation, the records also include people known to the public, whose filming was carried out illegally, without their permission, and therefore, the secret of their private life was violated.
