Maka Bochorishvili: The declared policy of the Georgian government is to search for peaceful ways to resolve the conflict and to restore the territorial integrity of Georgia in a peaceful way

The fundamental goal of this organization is to ensure security and cooperation in Europe, but we constantly have to talk about conflicts. Georgia is an OSCE participating country that has been experiencing the consequences of neglecting international norms for decades. Conflict, violation of territorial integrity, occupation of two regions of Georgia by Russia, these are the challenges that my country has been facing for 3 decades, - said Maka Bochorishvili, Chairman of the European Integration Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, during her speech at the autumn session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Dublin.

As she noted, the declared policy of the Georgian government is to search for peaceful ways to resolve the conflict and restore the territorial integrity of Georgia in a peaceful way, and all international actors are involved in this process, although it is very difficult to talk about the success of international negotiations in Geneva so far.

"As a result of the 10-year efforts of the Georgian government, today the decisions of the international courts strengthen our backs, and we can fight for a peaceful resolution of the conflict with not only political but also legal arguments. Even one look at the map is enough to understand how complex the environment is today, we have to take care of maintaining peace and ensuring a stable path of democratic development of the country", said Maka Bochorishvili.

According to her, maintaining stability and peace in Georgia today is important not only for the country but also for the security of the entire region.

"In recent years, Georgia has repeatedly faced the threat of destabilization due to various reasons, which makes the country's security even more vulnerable. We have seen more than one international campaign, which for the most part lacks real objective foundations, although it harms the country's reputation. Important parliamentary elections are ahead. It is in the interest of the government that the elections in the country are held in compliance with the rules and that no one questions the choice of the citizens of Georgia, as it happened in the past. At the invitation of the Georgian government, you will have the opportunity to observe the elections and make objective conclusions. Your mission is more than just election observation. Today, maintaining stability and peace in Georgia is important not only for us, but also for the security of the entire region," said Maka Bochorishvili.
