A charity run in support of wounded warriors took place at Lisi Lake, raising awareness and funds for these heroes. The event was hosted by the Georgian Ministry of Defense and Defense Forces, in partnership with the Wounded Warrior Support Foundation and the Tbilisi Defense Attaché Association.
Over 6,000 GEL was donated during the run, with all proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Support Foundation. Founded by Silknet in 2018, the foundation has since provided almost 3 million GEL in aid, assisting hundreds of wounded and injured service members and their families.
Initiated last year by the Tbilisi Defense Attaché Association, the charity run brought together members of the diplomatic corps, their families and friends, and various volunteer organizations to support the foundation's beneficiaries. This year's event expanded in size, solidifying its place as an annual tradition.
“This charity run became the annual one, and military attachés of our friendly countries take part along with the Ministry of Defense of Georgia and other military personnel. This continuous support from the US, UK, and European countries is highly appreciated. They thus declare deep respect towards our wounded warriors. There can be nothing more important than to remember and pay respect to our heroes.” – said George Ramishvili, founder of Silknet and Wounded Warriors Support Foundation.
Participants included Georgian Defense Forces personnel, wounded and injured soldiers, defense volunteer organizations, and representatives from the diplomatic corps, along with their friends and families.
General director of Silknet and WWSF, David Mamulaishvili "This initiative by the military attachés has now become an annual tradition in support of wounded warriors, and their efforts are invaluable. What truly matters is their unwavering commitment to stand by our heroes. I’d like to extend special thanks to the embassies of the U.S., Lithuania, and the U.K. for their dedication in making this event possible."
Charity run participants could choose from a 3KM Fun Run/Walk, a 5KM race, or a 13KM race. The top three male and female finishers in the 5KM and 13KM races received medals. Traillub ensured accurate timing and results for all participants. All participants received commemorative bracelets from Silknet with the inscription: “Let’s unite for our heroes.”
Silknet remains dedicated to this cause, uniting individuals, organizations, and businesses in support of the wounded warriors. Charity runs like this exemplify solidarity, raise awareness, and honor the sacrifices of our heroes.
