President of Georgia praises historic relations between Georgians and Kists at book presentation

At the presentation of Meka Khangoshvili’s book "Kists that Created the History of the Pankisi Valley," the President of Georgia emphasized the deep-rooted history of tolerance and strong relations between Georgians and Kists, describing it as an integral part of the nation's heritage.

During the event held at the Orbeliani Palace, the President of Georgia highlighted the significance of the historic ties between the Georgian and Kist communities, expressing pride in the values of tolerance and coexistence that have characterized their relationship for centuries. She noted that these connections are deeply rooted and cannot be lost, despite challenges over time.

"This history, this tolerance, which is characteristic of Georgians and Kists... is deep in the roots of our peoples and it cannot be lost," the President said. She praised Meka Khangoshvili’s book as a valuable contribution to the understanding of the unique and longstanding relationships between the Caucasian peoples.

The President described the book as more than just a historical account of the Kists in the Pankisi Valley, but also a reflection of the broader history of Georgia and its close ties with Caucasian communities. The book, which has familial significance for its author, was celebrated as a historical record that will continue to shape the understanding of Georgia’s future.
