March "Georgia Chooses the European Union" planned for October 20 in Tbilisi

On October 20, a large-scale march titled "Georgia Chooses the European Union" will take place in Tbilisi, starting from five different locations and culminating at Freedom Square. The event aims to rally support for Georgia's pro-European aspirations ahead of the critical parliamentary elections on October 26.

Participants will gather at five designated starting points at 17:00: Republic Square, Square of Heroes, the 300 Aragveli obelisks in Ortachala, Marjanishvili Square, and the intersection of Amagleba and Asatiani Streets in Mtatsminda. The marches from these points will converge at Freedom Square, where a concluding event, including musical performances, will take place at 19:00.

Saba Brachveli, a representative of the Civil Society Foundation and one of the event organizers, highlighted the importance of the march in reinforcing the country’s commitment to the European Union. "The upcoming elections are a crucial moment for the Georgian people to affirm their choice for the European Union," said Brachveli in an interview with InterpressNews. He emphasized that the march aims to remind the public of the nation's pro-EU stance, which was overwhelmingly supported during the mass protests earlier this year.

Although the march is organized by civil society, politicians and public figures are expected to participate. Brachveli noted that while there may be speeches, they will focus on public issues related to the elections and Georgia’s European future.

The event will not be focused on counting attendees but rather on showing collective support for Georgia’s European path. "We invite everyone to join the march," Brachveli said, adding that celebrities and other influential figures have been actively encouraging participation through social media campaigns.
