Giorgi Vashadze, a prominent leader of the "Unity - National Movement" coalition, delivered a passionate speech at Heroes' Square before the start of the "Georgia Chooses the European Union" march in Tbilisi, emphasizing the dignity and determination of the Georgian people.
Addressing the crowd, Vashadze underscored the importance of unity, urging citizens to see themselves as part of a larger movement. He declared the upcoming election as a referendum on Georgia's future, with a clear choice between European integration or isolation.
"The main thing is that we see each other to believe that we are much more. We will win this election because it is a referendum."
Vashadze framed the election as a defining moment for Georgia’s direction, stating that a vote for the ruling party, symbolized by the number 41, would signify rejection of the European Union, while a vote for his coalition, marked by the number 5, would signal support for swift accession to the EU.
"For example: you draw 41 means - no to the European Union, if you draw the number 5, it means that you support quick accession to the European Union."
He further emphasized the resilience and pride of the Georgian people, stating that they would never apologize, submit, or isolate themselves from the world, and he urged the crowd to rally for change in the upcoming elections, referencing the country's journey toward independence from the Soviet Union.
"The Georgian people will never apologize, kneel, or isolate themselves. Is this a nation with dignity?! We come with this dignity after gaining independence from the Soviet Union."
