Russia is strengthening its hybrid operations in the neighborhood of the European Union, the recent parliamentary elections in Georgia and the referendum on the European Union in Moldova are proofs of this intervention, - the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nauseda, writes on his personal page on Platform X.
According to him, it is crucial for the European Union not to abandon the people of Georgia and Moldova.
"Russia is strengthening its hybrid operations in the EU neighborhood. The recent parliamentary elections in Georgia and the referendum on the European Union in Moldova are evidence of this interference.
In Moldova, despite the enormous efforts of the Kremlin, the European way won. In Georgia, the elections were followed by mass protests.
People want to live in democracy and prosperity - not censorship and autocracy. Citizens have made their European choice and are not ready to give it up.
It is crucial for the EU not to abandon the people of Georgia and Moldova. We cannot allow their European dream to disappear. We must support civil society and ensure that people's voices are decisive in determining the future of their countries.
Lithuania stands firmly with the people of Georgia and Moldova in their aspirations to join the European Union. We believe that Moldova and Georgia belong to the European family.
No one can take away their chance for a better future. Lithuania will continue to support them on this path," Nauseda wrote.
