Péter Szijjártó: No international organization said that the elections in Georgia were not free, fair or democratic

"No international organization said that these elections were not free, fair or democratic," Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó told the media.

"It is very clear that if the opposition wins, there will be no problem with democracy. Since the ruling party won, which is a sovereignist party, a pro-peace party, a pro-family party, therefore there are allegations regarding the elections.

If the opposition won these elections, there would be no problem. We know this feeling very well. If right-wing parties, or even conservatives, or even sovereignists win, there are usually systemic problems with democracy. "If the liberals win, everything is fine, the sun is shining, it's that simple," said Siyarto.

When asked by journalists about the violations established by international and local observers, Siyarto answered that Budapest "believes the Hungarian observers". He also noted that Hungary does not join the calls for an investigation.

"We had Hungarian observers here. Hungarian observers gave a very clear report that it was a free, fair and competitive election. We believe our Hungarian observers. This is a fact", Siyarto said.

Siyarto called the freezing of relations with Georgia by the European Union a "purely political decision" because, according to him, Brussels "wants another government" in Tbilisi.
