Prosecutor's Office: Persons who claim to have evidence of alleged crimes committed during the elections, have not yet cooperated with the investigation - urges them to report to investigative structures

According to the information of the Prosecutor's Office, the investigation of alleged crimes committed in the pre-election period and on the day of the election is ongoing in the Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Special Investigation Service in 47 criminal cases.

In addition, according to the agency, the persons who publicly claim that they have information and evidence related to the alleged crimes committed during the election process have not cooperated with the investigation and refuse to provide relevant information.

"In order to inform the public, we would like to state that the investigation is underway in the Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Special Investigation Service of Georgia on the facts of the alleged crimes committed during the pre-election period and on the day of the election, in 47 criminal cases, namely election fraud, influence on the will of voters, violation of the secrecy of the electoral vote, Bribery of voters, obstruction of journalistic activities, violence and threats, damage and destruction of property at the location of the election commission or during pre-election campaigning.

The beginning of the investigations was based on the appeals of the opposition and ruling parties, the Central Election Commission and non-governmental organizations, as well as the information spread by the media.

The investigation agencies are intensively summoning and interviewing the persons informed about the alleged crimes committed during the election process. Appropriate examinations have been appointed, video materials are being studied and persons are being identified, appropriate investigative and procedural actions are being carried out.

It should be noted that in some cases, persons who publicly claim to have information and evidence related to alleged crimes committed during the election process, have not cooperated with the investigation and refused to provide relevant information, which hinders the investigation process.
