Ambassador of Sweden: EU membership is based on merit, this year Georgia went backwards, the country's EU membership is stopped

EU membership is based on merit, this year Georgia went backwards, Georgia's EU membership is stopped, - the Swedish Ambassador to Georgia, Anna Lyberg, writes on personal page of X, thus responding to yesterday's statements of the EU Ambassador to Georgia, Paweł Herczyński.

According to her, the door of the European Union remains open when Georgia returns to the path of the European Union.

"The message is clear: EU membership is based on merit. It totally depends on the progress of each country. This year, Georgia went backwards. Georgia's accession to the European Union is suspended. The door of the European Union remains open when Georgia returns to the path of the European Union," Lyberg wrote.
