Ombudsman: It's hard for a sane person to believe, for example, that 350,000 people were detained on "carousels" - I don't believe that more than 100,000 people were deprived of their ID cards without 1 person appearing

It is difficult for a sane person to believe, for example, that 350,000 people were brought down on "carousels". To transport 350,000 people to different areas, even then, it would take about 30,000 minibuses or more than 10,000 buses. All this happened in such a way that no one in this country could hear anything, I don't believe it, - public defender Levan Ioseliyani said.

As he mentioned in the "360 Degrees" program of "PalitraNews", he also does not believe that more than 100,000 people's ID cards were confiscated without 1 person appearing who would say that their ID cards were forcibly confiscated.

"As a public defender, I am not on the side of any political party. I do not stand with them, in many cases I do not repeat absurd statements that are difficult for a sane person to believe, for example, 350 thousand people were taken to "carousels". To transport 350,000 people to different areas, even then, it would take about 30,000 minibuses or more than 10,000 buses. All this happened in such a way that no one in this country could hear anything, I don't believe it.

I haven't lost my sanity yet. I can't believe that more than 100,000 people had their IDs confiscated without 1 person showing up. We have been begging you for 2 months, if you are someone whose ID card was confiscated, submit a statement to us, there is not a single person who will say that I am the man whose ID card was forcibly confiscated", said Yoselian.

In addition, as the public defender noted, procedural violations "of course were".

"There are some things that are an objective fact. Ink has indeed leaked, but it has to be seen in the larger context of how much it relates to the expression of your will that you came, whether the expression of your will was secured, or whether that expression of will was influenced by someone. My task as a public defender is to see if a person voted unhindered or not. Of course, there were procedural violations. Who says it wasn't, so what are so many complaints written about? Of course, these were violations. The best example of this is the OSCE/ODIHR report, where there are many violations," Ioseliani said.

According to Ioseliani, it is not the prerogative of the public defender to talk about the legitimacy of elections.

According to him, the ombudsman institute has an answer to all possible facts of crime.

"It is clear what the opposition demands. The opposition is there to have such demands, but all demands must be supported by some evidence. When the summary minutes were written in 3111 precincts, where the representative of the opposition party signed most of the minutes, dissenting opinions were written in only 9 precincts. There were about 47 thousand observers, if they were all bribed, if no one wrote anything, if 7 statements were written about the fact that the ballot was leaked, if anyone believes that it happened...

Violations, of course, were what we saw live. Violations were not crimes. We have an answer to all these questions, to all the possible facts of the crime. We have an answer for all those interested who are wondering what we have been up to during this period. If someone expects that the Public Defender will come out and talk about the legitimacy of the elections, when he did not participate in this process, and if someone believes that the Public Defender should do this, it is a lie. Not a single public defender has done this, and no public defender will be able to do this," Ioselian said.
